Although based in
Sydney, the Sydney Puppet Theatre has toured widely around Australia and
overseas. Primarily they create and perform what they call "Theatre of
Delight" for the family audience, puppetry that brings magic into
people's lives, reawakening a sense of joy and possibility.
THE PUPPET
CARAVAN We have recently returned from a fantastic tour to Perth where we performed "Z for Giraffe" at the UNIMA 2008 International Puppetry Congress and Festival. The show got wonderful reviews and we really enjoyed playing to so many international delegates and Perth families. This large festival was organised by Fremantle's Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and we would like to thank them for their courage and committment to making UNIMA 2008 such a success. We journeyed across the Nullabor on the Puppet Caravan with 7 other puppeteers (9 of us in all). The Puppet Caravan created performances in some out of the way places including Eucla in Western Australian (just over the border from South Australia). Some people travelled over 300 kilometres to see a puppet show! UNIMA is the international puppetry association and this festival and congress happens somewhere in the world every 4 years. The next event will be in China in 2012.
